Fix 3 – Reset Valorant’s Boot Status

The Valorant game automatically creates a file that stores the boot status of the game. This is required while launching the game, and if this file gets corrupted, you might face Valorant error messages. The simple solution to fix this issue is to delete this file and Valorant will recreate it next time it starts. Here are the steps to delete this file.

Step 1 – Press Windows + R to open the RUN box.
Step 2 – Type ‘C:\Windows‘ and hit the Enter key.C Windows command

Step 3 – The Windows File Explorer window will open, where you have to use the Search box in the top-right corner to search for the “vgkbootstatus.dat” file.
Step 4 – Once the file highlights in the search window, select it and delete it.
Step 5 – Now, launch the game to check if the “Your game requires a system restart to play on Valorant” error has been resolved. The game might take time to launch as it will have to create a file instead of the old boot file.

Fix 4 – Reinstall The Riot Vanguard App

If the above step did not resolve the issue, then experts suggest that you must uninstall and reinstall the entire app. Here is what you need to do.

Step 1 – Press the Windows key and type “Add or Remove Programs”.

Microsoft has provided this feature for the safety of your OS because only the drivers that have a verified digital signature can be installed in the Windows Kernel. But certain drivers are required to play this game and may not have the required signature yet. Here are the steps to disable Driver Signature Enforcement.

Step 1 – Press the Windows key and type “Command Prompt”.
Step 2 – Hover your mouse over the app with the same name, and you will see further options in the right section.

Epic Games is a well-known name in the gaming world, offering everything from free games to titles and huge discounts. However, just like any other service, Epic Games’ users can sometimes face slow or struck downloads when using the Epic Games Launcher. If you’re downloading games like Fortnite or GTA V, installing an update, or just growing your library, a slow or blocked download can be annoying.

In this detailed guide, we’ll know the common reasons for slow or stuck downloads on Epic Games and provide solutions to get you back into the game.

Why are your Epic Games Downloads Slow or Struck?

Before we look into fixes, it’s important to know the possible reasons behind slow/stuck download problems. Some factors can contribute to slow or paused downloads. Knowing what they are can help you solve the problem successfully.

1. Epic Games Server Issues

Epic Games Servers can sometimes become overloaded during big updates or free game events. This can affect download speed or cause downloads to stop altogether. Server-side problems are common during big events or when the game demands are high.

2. Poor Internet Connection

Your Internet Connection speed plays a key role in slow downloads. Weak Wi-fi, Internet slowdown, or network jam can lead to Epic Games downloads taking much longer than expected or being stuck.

3. High Network Traffic

If you’re sharing your internet connection with many devices like smartphones, laptops, smart TVs, etc., your bandwidth might be loaded. This can cause slow downloads for Epic Games. Particularly if various devices are streaming videos, browsing, or using large amounts of data.

4. Epic Games Launcher Issues

At times, the Epic Games Launcher itself can be the problem. If it’s running in the background with outdated files, corrupted caches, or settings that limit speed, it can result in slow downloads, stuck installations, or failures to initiate downloads.

5. Antivirus or Firewall Interference

Security software like Firewalls or Antivirus software may unknowingly block or limit downloads from Epic Games, thinking they are harmful files. This could cause either a complete blockage of your download or reduced speeds.

6. Background Processes

Other applications running in the background can take in resources. Like internet bandwidth or processing power, and increase the speed of downloads. If your system is loaded with processes, it can cause slower downloads.

How to Fix Slow or Stuck Epic Games Downloads?

Now we know the common reasons, let’s find the answers for fixing slow or stuck downloads. Follow these methods to speed up your downloads and make sure of an easy gaming experience.

1. Check Epic Games Server Status

Before trying any complex solutions, the first thing you should do is check if Epic Games is facing any server-side issues. Sometimes, Epic Games experiences downtime for scheduled maintenance or struggles with sudden shutdowns. On Epic Games’ status page, check if there is any running server maintenance or server shutdown. You can also check Epic Games’ social media accounts to check for any news about server problems.

If there’s an issue, there is nothing you can do but wait until Epic Games solves it.

2. Check Internet Connection

Internet connection is the main part of any download. It’s important to ensure your speed is up to the task. Follow these steps to check and improve your internet connection:

Step 1:  Go to a testing website like Speedtest.net.
Step 2: Do a test to see your download and upload speed.
Step 3: Contact your ISP if the downloading speed is less than 10 Mbps to upgrade for better speed.
Step 4: Try using a wired connection. If the speed is good but downloads are still slow. Ethernet is more stable than Wi-Fi. Disconnect other devices to clear data capacity. Try restarting your router again.

3. Pause and Resume Downloads

If the download is stuck, try pausing and resuming the download. This easy way can often fix temporary issues with the Launcher. Here is how to do this:

Step 1: Open  Epic Games Launcher.
Step 2: Go to the “Downloads” section.
Step 3: Click the “Pause” button.
Step 4: Wait for a few seconds, then click “Resume”.

This makes the launcher reconnect to a better server.

4.  Restart the Epic Games Launcher

The Epic Games Launcher can find errors or glitches by itself. If too many games are downloaded or the launcher has been open for a while. It can slow down. Here is what you can do:

Step 1: Completely close Epic Games Launcher.
Step 2: Press ‘Ctrl + Shift + Esc‘ to open Task Manager. Make sure that no remaining Epic Games processes are running in the background.
Step 3: Restart Epic Games Launcher. Check if the download speed improves.

A fresh Restart can fix small bugs or glitches within the Launcher.

5. Clear Epic Games Cache

Corrupted or outdated cache files can sometimes cause slow or struck downloads in Epic Games. The Epic Games Launcher stores temporary files in the form of a cache. Here’s how to clear the cache:

Step 1: Close the Epic Games Launcher.
Step 2: Press ‘Windows + R’ to Open the Run Dialog Box.
Step 3: Type ‘%localappdata%‘ and press ‘Enter.
%localappdata% commandStep 4: Open ‘Epic Games Launcher folder.
Step 5: Delete the saved folder.
Step 6: Restart Epic Games Launcher and download it again.

6. Adjust Download Speed Limit

The Epic Games Launcher allows you to limit the speed of downloads. To conserve bandwidth for other tasks. If the limit is set too low, your downloads will be slow. Here’s how to adjust the speed limit:

Step 1: Open the Epic Games Launcher.
Step 2: Click on your Profile icon in the bottom left corner and select Settings.
Step 3: Scroll down to the ‘Downloads’ section.
Step 4: Find the ‘Limit Bandwidth’ option. Adjust the slider to allow enhanced speed.

By ensuring that the download speed isn’t being unnecessarily slowed down. You should notice a boost in download speeds.

7. Change Download Region

Epic Game’s server uses different servers for downloading. Your region could be experiencing higher traffic. Changing the download region to a less crowded server can help in speeding up downloads. Here’s how you can do this:

Step 1: Open the Epic Games Launcher.
Step 2: Go to the ‘Settings’ menu.
Step 3: Scroll down to the Downloads.
Step 4: Under Download Region, select a region with less traffic. Or one that is nearer your location.

This can help reduce delays and enhance download speed significantly.

8. Disable Firewall and Antivirus Temporarily

Antivirus software or Firewalls may mistakenly block or limit the downloads. By thinking it’s a potential threat, causing downloads to be slow and stuck. Temporarily disabling these applications can help identify if they’re causing the problem. Here’s how:

For Windows Defender

Step 1: Open ‘Windows Security > Firewall & Network Protection’.
Step 2: Click ‘Allow’ an app through Firewall. Ensure Epic Games Launcher is allowed.

For Third-Party Antivirus

Step 1: Temporarily disable ‘Real-Time Protection’ (check your AV settings).

Note : Re-enable protection after downloading.

You can also add Epic Games to the exception list in your Antivirus Settings to prevent future problems.

9. Try Disabling HDD (Hard Disk Drive)

HDD can make your downloads in your PC slow even when your download location is not in HDD. Disabling HDD might help in your Epic Games downloads faster and quicker.

Temporarily Disable the HDD: If you have multiple drives (SSD and HDD), you can try disabling the HDD while downloading and installing games, then re-enabling it when the process is complete. HDD are slower than SSD, so once the download is complete we can enable the HDD.

Physically Disconnect: As a more extreme measure, you can physically disconnect the HDD while downloading and installing games, ensuring that the launcher only uses the SSD.

Follow these steps to disable the HDD:

Step 1: Press ‘Windows + X’ and select Disk Management.
disk management
Step 2: Click on the HDD you want to disable and go to Properties.
Step 3: Click on the Drivers Tab;
Step 4: Select the Disable Device button.

10. Close Background Applications

Running other applications in the background. Especially ones that consume bandwidth (e.g., streaming services or large downloads). This can slow down your Epic Games downloads.

To speed up downloads, follow these steps:

Step 1: Press ‘Ctrl + Shift + Esc’ to open Task Manager.
Step 2: Close unnecessary programs. Especially those consuming internet bandwidth (browsers, streaming apps, etc.).
Step 3: Disable Windows Update temporarily (Settings > Windows Update > Pause).
Step 4: Use QoS (Quality of Service) on the router to focus on gaming traffic.

By freeing up system resources, Epic Games will have more bandwidth and power to prioritize the downloads.

You can also use Advanced Driver Updater by Systweak, which can optimize hardware performance and make your PC work smoothly while multitasking.

11. Change your Engine.ini File

Editing the Engine.ini File can help your Epic Games downloads run faster. Give this a try by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Press ‘Windows + R’ to open the Run Dialog Box.
Step 2: Type %localappdata% and press Ok.

Step 1: Press ‘Win + R’. Type ‘ncpa.cpl’ and click on OK.
ncpa.cpl commandStep 2: Right-click your ‘Network Adapter > Properties’.
Step 3: Choose ‘IPV4 > Properties’.

In today’s time, thinking of a life without WhatsApp is impossible. Everyone uses it to stay connected with loved ones, family and friends. Whether it is for personal or professional work, WhatsApp is the preferred choice for instant communication. During these times, you look for ways to restore deleted WhatsApp chat, as it is the only way to see what was deleted, save important messages, and continue the conversation.

This guide explains how to do it and get deleted WhatsApp messages back. The methods below will work to retrieve messages deleted from an individual or group chat. So, without any delay, let us discover how you can turn back time and keep the conversation alive, no matter what action has been taken by the sender.

How to Recover WhatsApp Messages?

Although the application offers no direct or built-in way to retrieve deleted messages, several alternate ways will work.

Note : Recovery of the messages depends on the device you use. What works on Android might not work on iPhone. Here, we will explain ways to help Android users recover deleted WhatsApp messages.

Way 1 – Retrieving Deleted WhatsApp Messages Through Backup

Important : All these methods will work if enabled before the message is deleted. If you are enabling them right now, sadly, you won’t be able to restore already deleted WhatsApp messages.

To help users avoid losing data, WhatsApp offers a cloud-based backup solution. You can use it to save the day.

To ensure backup is enabled, open WhatsApp and go to Settings > Chat > Chat Backup. If enabled, you will see the Google account on which the backup is saved. Also, you will see when the backup was last updated.

Follow these steps to restore the chat using the backup.

1. Uninstall WhatsApp from your device.
2. Download and install the latest version of WhatsApp.

3. Enter your phone number and name that you use to run WhatsApp.

Enter your phone number
4. You will now get a prompt asking if you’d like to Restore chat from Google Drive. Tap on Restore to start the process.

Let the recovery process complete, and follow the on-screen instructions to install WhatsApp completely.  This will restore all the old messages that were backed up.

However, if the backup is not enabled, then? Does this mean you cannot get the deleted messages? Luckily,  there is another way to restore WhatsApp messages even without backup.

Way 2 – Restoring WhatsApp Messages Without Backup

If you were unaware of the cloud-based backup facility no worries, you can restore data from the Android Local Backup.

1. Go to File Manager on your Android phone.
2. Tap on WhatsApp.Tap on WhatsApp
3. Tap Databases folder > Search for a file named msgstore.db.crypt12 and modify its name to msgstore_BACK.db.crypt12. Do not use quotes.
4. Next, search for msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt12 and rename it to msgstore.db.crypt12 without quotes.
5. Uninstall WhatsApp and reinstall it from the Play Store.
6. There is no cloud backup, so you will be prompted to restore it from a local phone backup. Tap Restore to proceed.

7. Your most recent chats will now be restored.

Note : Since the backup space available for local backup is limited, this method only helps retrieve the latest messages.

Undoubtedly, these methods are suitable, but they are not accessible. To follow them each time, you must uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp. Isn’t there anything simpler,? Which can help restore deleted messages without deleting WhatsApp?

Fortunately, using Deleted Chat Recovery app, you can view deleted messages without uninstalling WhatsApp.

What is Deleted Chat Recovery?

Developed by Systweak Software, the same company that offers the app to send messages to an unknown number on WhatsApp, Deleted Chat Recovery allows viewing deleted messages. The only catch is that notifications should be enabled, and no chat should be muted. This powerful app helps view messages and media that were deleted. You can view messages and media when using it in individual or group chats.

Remember, the app will only work on deleted messages after installation. Here’s how you can use it.

Do you have Green check marks on your desktop icons? Fear not! It is not due to any sort of malicious activity but is a sign that you are connected to a cloud service like Microsoft’s OneDrive. The green check mark signifies the status of your cloud backup. We have explained all about these green tick marks in this article including the steps to remove them.

Why Are There Green Checks On Desktop Icons

The green checkmarks are an indication of which files and folders are synced with the Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage. If you see a green checkmark on a folder, you can be rest assured that it is synced to the cloud and can be accessed across all devices using your Microsoft account.

What Are The Types Of Check Marks On Desktop Icons

Solid Green Check Mark

A check mark that appears to be Solid Green in color means two things. First, it is backed up on your OneDrive account and second, it is available for offline use as it is stored on your PC as well. This status is obtained if you have chosen the “Always keep on this device” option for a file or folder.

Outlined Green Check Mark

outlined green check mark

If you see an outlined green check mark then your file or folder is not available on your PC but can be downloaded from the online storage it has been uploaded to. This helps save space on your current device as there is no copy available offline.

There are two more types of marks when using the One Drive and it is good-to-know information.

Blue Mark

If your file or folder has a blue mark then it means that this file is being uploaded to OneDrive.

Red Mark

A red mark implies that an error has occurred during the synchronization of your files to One Drive. It could be due to network issues or misconfigured settings.

How To Remove Green/Red/Blue Checks On Desktop Icons

Here are a few expert-recommended methods to remove green checks from Desktop Icons.

Method 1 – Pause The Synchronization In OneDrive

The first step you need to take is to pause the sync of files between the OneDrive and your PC. This pause of sync will not affect any data that has already been uploaded to OneDrive cloud storage but will not facilitate any further uploads. Here’s how to pause syncing in OneDrive:

1. Press Win + S to open the Search box and type OneDrive. Click on the app with the same name.
2. Click the Gear icon to open the Settings menu. One drive Pause syncing Option
3. Select “Pause syncing” and choose the desired pause duration.

Method 2 – Close OneDrive

If you do not want to temporarily pause the OneDrive Sync but rather close the app until the next reboot then follow these steps.

1. Click on the OneDrive icon in the right bottom corner of the System tray.system tray one drive icon
2. Click the Gear icon in the top-right corner.
3. Expand the “Pause Syncing” menu. One drive Pause syncing Option
4. Select “Quit OneDrive.”

Method 3 – Unlink OneDrive

If you do not want to use OneDrive on your PC for good, then you must unlink your Windows account from OneDrive. This will fully disable the service until you sign back into the OneDrive app and re-enable syncing.

Method 4 – Use the Registry Editor to Modify Icon Overlay Settings

Some users have claimed that the above methods did not help remove the green check marks from the desktop icons. In that case, we have a method that involves editing the Windows Registry to remove the green check marks. Here is what you need to do –

1. Press Win + R, type regedit, and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.
2. In the address bar, copy and paste the following path and press Enter:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers

registry editor ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers path

3. To remove the overlay icons, delete or rename the entries related to your cloud service. For example, if you’re using OneDrive, you can rename Registry subkeys like OneDrive1 and OneDrive2 to move them to the bottom of the list. You could rename them to something like “z_OneDrive1,” “z_OneDrive2,” etc.
4. After renaming or deleting the subkeys, restart your computer to apply the changes.

Editor’s Tip: Use Advanced System Optimizer To Maintain Your Windows Registry

Advanced System Optimizer is a complete optimization tool that helps maintain your PC and keeps it running optimally. Many modules are associated with this app, like system cleaner, disk optimizer, duplicate file remover, driver updater, and many more. But today’s highlight is the Registry Optimizer module. There are two features under this app namely – Registry Cleaner and Registry Optimizer. The first feature will help users to repair Registry issues and stop app crashes whereas the second feature optimizes and reduces the size of the registry by deleting unwanted entries and ensuring better PC performance. Moreover, using the Registry Cleaner module, you can back up the registry before making any changes to it.

Method 5 – Rebuild Icon Cache

After you have stopped the sync of your files to One Drive or disabled One Drive completely, the green check mark may remain on your desktop. Experts suggest that rebuilding the icon cache can help fix this issue. Here are the steps –

1. Press Win + R to open the RUN dialog box and type “cmd”.CMD Command
2. Next, press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to open the command prompt app in admin mode.
3. Copy and paste the following command in the command prompt window, each followed by the Enter key.

exe-show

taskkill /IM explorer.exe /F  (note:- your desktop will go blank)

DEL /A /Q “%localappdata%IconCache.db”

DEL /A /F /Q “%localappdata%MicrosoftWindowsExplorericoncache*”

Shutdown /p

4. The PC will shut down after the execution of the last command. Wait for some time, restart your computer, and check if the green check marks have gone for good.

The VAN9003 error in Valorant is an error message related to issues with the game’s security features, specifically Riot Games’ anti-cheat system, Vanguard. If you’re encountering this error, don’t worry. It’s usually easy to fix by enabling Secure Boot and TPM. Here’s how to resolve the issue and get back to playing Valorant.

What Is The VAN9003 Error

This error acts as a digital security guard in Valorant, implemented by Riot Games to ensure a fair and secure gaming experience. It utilizes additional security measures, such as Secure Boot and TPM (Trusted Platform Module), to verify that the game is played in a safe and controlled environment. This error tells you, “Secure Boot isn’t working properly on your PC.” Secure Boot and TPM function like guardians, ensuring your computer starts up safely. Vanguard, Valorant’s security system, relies on these to verify that your system is trustworthy.

Why Does The VAN9003 Error Occur

The error typically occurs when there’s an issue with the game’s anti-cheat system, Vanguard. This error is usually tied to problems such as corrupted files, conflicts with antivirus programs, or system network settings issues. If Secure Boot or TPM is turned off, Valorant won’t launch, and you’ll encounter the VAN9003 error. These security features need to be enabled for the game to run correctly.

If this does not fix the issue, then your network drivers might be affected. Here are 3 different ways to update drivers.

Use The Device Manager

The Device Manager is an inbuilt tool that can help download updates for your driver. But the only limitation is that this tool can search for driver updates on the Microsoft Servers only. It does not consider updated drivers from third-party sources which means that you many not get the updated drivers soon.

Use Advanced Driver Updater

This excellent driver updater tool can scan your PC for driver anomalies like outdated drivers, missing drivers, and corrupted drivers. It then searches for the relevant and most compatible drivers and installs them on your PC. Here are the steps to use this software.

Step 1: Download and install Advanced Driver Updater from the official website or click the download link below.

Step 2: Once installed, launch the software and click the Start Scan Now button on the app’s home screen.
